Nancy Kraft

Preservation, UI Main Library

I joined the University of Iowa Libraries as the preservation librarian and Head of the Preservation and Conservation Department in 2001. My focus of study and practical experience has been in cultural heritage emergency response. In 2009 I received the Midwest Archives Conference  Presidents’ award for my assistance to local institutions that were heavily damaged by the 2008 Iowa flood. In addition to teaching  at the University of Iowa, I’m on the faculty for the OceanTeachers Academy, Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, UNESCO, in Ostend, Belgium.  I am on the American Institute for Conservation-Collections Emergency Responders Team and am currently working with cultural heritage professionals around the state to form a statewide emergency response team. I received my M.A. from the University of Iowa.
